FreelanceWhat If Your Work Gets Rejected?
Freelancers spend a lot of time and creative powers just to get the job done. A freelancer who is dedicated to his craft will find that it is important to release good results on time in order to build a good relationship to his/her clients. It is therefore one of the greatest nightmares of a freelancer to have his/her work rejected.
Assuming that all is done in good faith to produce results, it is not a very good experience for a freelancer to have his/her work rejected because most of the time, this could mean the breakdown of the relationship of the freelancer with the client. If this is a client that the freelancer has long had a good working relationship with (or if this is a client with a good reputation among other freelancers), this is a genuine cause for concern. If you have experienced this kind of problem, there's still something that you can do about it. The first thing that you have to do is to find out what the cause of the dissatisfaction was. Most of the time, this is not a question of skill, but a question of professionalism, including bad time-keeping, inability to submit work on-time, and inability to submit work based on the specific directions of the client. If a client is professional enough, he/she does not reject work immediately, but it's the result of compounded issues that have lasted throughout the course of the work. When you already have this feedback, you are now in the position to make the necessary adjustments so that you can improve your craft. Depending on the merits of your contract, you can still work on to revise the work and still get the work finished. In case there are none, you still get the license on the works, which gives you the right to make money out of it through some other means. It's also possible that clients complain about how much the project has already cost them. Most of the time, these are the same clients who complain about practically everything, but they may still have a point so make sure that you are making effective time keeping and ensuring that your client is updated with project costs. No matter what happens, don't let a work rejection let you down. Always make this an opportunity for you to learn about your craft and enhance your skills so that you become better sooner.
